Mark the weekend of 23 & 24 March 2013 in your diary because that is when Figment Geelong will be held. Figment Geelong is a large-scale, free arts festival, and is calling for talented folk from all around Australia to participate in the two day event. It will take place in Geelong’s arts precinct in Johnstone Park.
Figment Geelong is an innovative, alternative space for art, limited only by the imagination. It offers free and participatory art to entire communities, blurring the lines between those who create and those who enjoy art. Figment embodies the belief that everyone can make something of artistic value and that the arts can build community.
Figment started in 2007 in New York City and, without commercial sponsorship, has grown to be held in six cities including Boston, Detroit, Washington, and soon Geelong Australia.
Figment Geelong is now calling for projects in a wide variety of categories: interactive installations, sculpture, participatory performance, games, costuming, activities, sound and video art, workshops and anything else the mind can envision.
